Scoring runs the moment an application is submitted and again if you edit the job's keywords and choose Rescore. It looks at the resume text, the cover letter and the screening answers together.
The formula
- 01Must-have keywords: the share of must-haves found in the application, multiplied by 70.
- 02Nice-to-have keywords: the share of nice-to-haves found, multiplied by 30.
- 03Knockouts: if any knockout question has the wrong answer, the total is capped at 20.
- 04The result is rounded to a whole number and stored with a breakdown of matched and missing keywords.
Reading the breakdown
On the applicant record the score pill opens a breakdown: matched must-haves, missing must-haves, matched nice-to-haves and any failed knockouts. Missing must-haves are the fastest thing to check in a screening call, because resumes often leave out a credential the person actually holds.
What the score is not
It is a sorting aid, not a hiring decision. It does not use age, gender, name, address or any protected characteristic, and it never rejects anyone. Recruiters move candidates between stages; the score only orders the list.
