Screening questions and knockout answers

Screening questions are asked on the apply form. A knockout question with a wrong answer caps the applicant's score at 20 so they sink without being deleted.

Steps

  1. 1Open the job and go to the Screening questions section.
  2. 2Add a question. Choose the answer type: yes/no, short text or a pick list.
  3. 3For a knockout, switch on Knockout and choose the expected answer (for example, Yes to 'Do you hold a valid CDL-A?').
  4. 4Order the questions so the knockouts come first. Applicants see them in this order.
  5. 5Save. Existing applications are not re-asked, but new ones are scored against the updated rules.

Use knockouts only for hard legal or logistical requirements: licenses, work authorization, shift availability, age minimums where the law allows. Use ordinary questions for everything else so you can still read the answer without punishing the applicant.

How a failed knockout affects scoring

The applicant's keyword score is calculated as normal, then capped at 20. The score breakdown on the record lists which knockout failed, so a recruiter can override when the answer was clearly a mistake. Nobody is auto-rejected; the Rejected stage is always a human decision.
